Bridges

A bridge is a fixed prothesis that replaces one or more missing teeth.

Bridges are so called as they use teeth either side of the gap to anchor and support the missing teeth. We assess the teeth either side of the gap- they must be strong enough, with sound bone support to act as anchor teeth.

We at Sorriso Dentistry can offer two types of bridges:
“Conventional” bridges require the anchor teeth to be prepared for crowns that will be linked to the artificial tooth (referred to as a pontic).

“Adhesive” bridges don’t require the anchor teeth to be prepared. Instead, metal wings are bonded onto the back of the anchor teeth, so not visible, and linked to the artificial tooth, (pontic). These bridges are used to replace missing teeth towards the front of the mouth.
