How it works
The device is made from an impression of the patient's teeth, so it fits precisely and comfortably, and is adjusted gradually to find the position that works best.
If snoring is severe, or symptoms suggestive of sleep apnoea are present (such as pauses in breathing, or persistent daytime tiredness), a referral for a sleep study may be recommended before fitting a device, to ensure the right treatment is provided.
Working with ENT colleagues
We work closely with ENT colleagues locally, and we generally prefer to make these devices on the back of a referral from ENT. This means the cause of the snoring has been properly assessed first, so the device is the right treatment for the patient. It is also the usual route for any sleep study that may be recommended.
If you haven't seen an ENT specialist yet, we can advise you on this.
